The new multifamily, mixed-use project enriches the park-like setting of Kirkland’s Forbes Creek neighborhood as an urban sanctuary. Surrounded by pine forest, the architectural style respects and responds to nature through symbolic and abstract design elements including massing composition and rooflines at varied levels, mimicking that of the forest treeline to add visual interest; forest-inspired colors; and the integration of open spaces that connect to nature.
The seven-story building with basement is comprised of five upper floors consisting of 140 residential units with a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom apartment homes, with ten percent of the apartment homes participating in the ARCH affordable housing program. A biophilic-themed lobby and other unique amenity spaces including a club room and a rooftop deck with lake views of Lake Washington, are amongst the interesting spaces that complement the lives of its residents.
Designed to achieve LEED Gold certification and in accordance with Puget Sound Energy (PSE) Built Smart guidelines, The Pine will source reclaimed building materials from the existing on-site warehouse and deliver a high level of energy and water efficiency from its building design to landscape, to truly create the standards and quality of a healthy living environment.
