Project completed by Rodriguez Park Architecture and Planning
Over the past three decades, Rodriguez Park has served Scripps Health in its phased modernization and expansion projects. An example of its earliest work involved the 187,000-square-foot Acute and Critical Care facilities addition and renovation at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla. It greatly expanded, consolidated and enhanced the hospital’s ability to provide state-of-the-art patient services.
The 100,000 square feet of new construction provided a major expansion of the surgical suite including two state-of-the-art open heart rooms, a critical care wing for 30 ICU beds, a new emergency department with a trauma center, expanded dining facility, material management areas, and a new loading dock facility. Major remodel areas of 87,000 square feet included Radiology, Laboratory, Family Waiting, Surgery, Lobby/Admitting and Food Service renovation.
The site development of the 22-acre hospital property also included a new heliport, shops space, a co-generation facility, and a 620-car underground parking structure and entry plaza.
Following master planning and programming services, the schematic design for the overall expansion project was completed. The phased expansion and modernization program was executed in several phases in multiple major construction packages constructed over a five-year-period. Master Planning and Phase I work was completed in association with Perkins & Will, Chicago.
