Aegis of Ballard expands the palette of residential living for Ballard and surrounding neighborhoods, emphasizing care for higher acuity residents in need of assistance with daily activities (assisted living), as well as providing residential care for residents with memory loss. Providing this residential option in a neighborhood setting allows existing community residents to “move-over” to Aegis rather than “move-away” to a community where care is provided.
The five-story building honors the local history and culture of Ballard with a Scandinavian sensibility blended with a salmon fishing cannery design similar to those found in Monterey, Astoria, or Anacortes. The community has a mix of uses for its residents and visitors, including a highly active ground floor with dining room, living room, activity room, and bistro fronting onto NW Market Street. The ground floor also includes a resident cinema, salon, barbershop, massage room, balance room, and pub.
