BELLEVUE, Washington (October 1, 2024)DAHLIN Architecture | Planning | Interiors is expanding its Bellevue, Wash. office with the appointment of Principal Mark Taylor, AIA, LFA, who joined DAHLIN earlier this month. Taylor comes to DAHLIN with 25 years of design and sustainability experience leading complex projects for large-scale retail and mixed-use development in the Pacific Northwest (PNW) and nationally. As Principal, he will lead multifamily, commercial, and mixed-use projects for DAHLIN throughout the PNW, helping to further grow the firm's practice across the region.

An active member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) for nearly a decade, Taylor holds a reputation as an exceptional leader in both design and business development and has been deeply involved in the Seattle community for over 25 years. In particular, his expertise in retail design will complement DAHLIN's residential expertise to help create comprehensive mixed-use projects for the firm's clients. Notable past work includes the sustainably designed, mixed-use community of Crossroads in Bellevue, and a vibrant mixed-used, master-planned community in Downtown Woodinville, Wash.

"We are thrilled to welcome Mark Taylor as principal in our Bellevue office," said John M. Thatch, Senior Vice President, Design Innovation in DAHLIN's Bellevue office. "His passion for designing spaces for the people who will work and live in them and for delivering an exceptional experience for clients makes him an invaluable addition to the DAHLIN team. Mark's involvement with ULI, of which DAHLIN is an active member, is something the firm values highly, and his commitment to high-quality design is evident in the meticulous, client-focused work he produces," said Thatch. "He has a remarkable ability to assemble dynamic project teams, multi-family or commercial, that elevate project experience and execution. With his years of experience and deep-rooted connections in the region, I'm excited to collaborate with him to further enhance the quality and scope of our design work and expand DAHLIN's presence in the Pacific Northwest."

Working as the liaison between the client and the DAHLIN design team, Taylor will be instrumental in executing each client's vision to its fullest, enhancing the clients' and end-users' experience and ultimately helping DAHLIN to expand its portfolio across the PNW.

"As I learn more about DAHLIN, I become more eager to contribute to its rich portfolio and see more than ever how my design approach aligns with the firm's values," said Taylor. "In particular, I look forward to enhancing and expanding the firm's sustainable design efforts, which are considerable. I believe in being a leader and a team player, finding fulfillment in the challenges of assembling a strong team and fostering the potential of others to achieve more with less. I know that I'll be able to apply my strengths in this new role, and am excited to join this collaborate, professional team who shares my passion for exceptional, forward-thinking design and collaboration. It's important to me to stay active in industry organizations so that I can stay on top of trends, work to make meaningful industry connections, and develop skills and knowledge beyond the architecture sphere," said Taylor, who served as Vice Chair of ULI's National Urban Revitalization Council and currently serves as chair of ULI Northwest's Programs Committee. "Organizations like ULI expose you to concepts and ideas you would not otherwise know about. ULI is made up of a broad cross-section of the industry and generates conversations where architecture is just one piece of the equation."

DAHLIN has worked throughout the PNW for over 30 years to plan and design growing communities and sustainable developments that support the region's economic growth and vitality. In the firm's Bellevue office, Taylor will join the local leadership team.

Taylor holds a Master of Architecture degree from Tulane University.
